Objective To analyze the disease spectrum and age/gender composition ratio of outpatients in the ophthalmology clinics in Funing People's Hospital of Yunnan Province. Methods All ophthalmology clinics outpatients from January 2023 to June 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Electronic medical records were fully reviewed. Diagnoses were categorized into ten groups according to the international classification of ocular diseases and trauma (ICD-10). Results A total of 5008 outpatient cases of ophthalmology clinics were included (2524 males and 2484 females). Conjunctival diseases accounted for 26.74%,eyelid,lacrimal tear system and orbital diseases accounted for 22.12%,eye trauma accounted for 17.29%,sclera,cornea,iris and ciliary body diseases accounted for 10.36%,eye muscles,binocular movement,eye accommodation and refractive abnormalities accounted for 8.39%,lens diseases accounted for 6.39%,choroidal and retinal diseases accounted for 3.83%,glaucoma accounted for 2.32%,vitreous and eyeball diseases accounted for 2.32%,optic nerve and visual pathway diseases accounted for 0.24%. Different diseases have different age and gender characteristics. Conclusions The disease spectrum and age/gender composition ratio of outpatients in our hospital's ophthalmology clinics have regional characteristics with unique features. This study can better match the medical resources and improve the quality of eye health services in primary hospitals,which is of great significance.
