Association between the living environment and respiratory diseases in primary school students in Jiangbei District of Ningbo City
Objective To investigate the prevalence of respiratory diseases among primary school students in Jiangbei district of Ningbo City,and to analyze the impact of living environment and behavioral habits on the prevalence.Methods From 2019 to 2021,the third grade students of a primary school in Jiangbei District of Ningbo City were selected using cluster sampling method for a questionnaire survey Logistic regression model was used to analyze the risk factors of respiratory diseases among the primary school students.Results A total of 1 144 students were included in the analysis,among whom the prevalence of respiratory diseases within the past year was 44.49%.Logistic regression analysis showed that family history of respiratory disease(OR=2.28,95%CI:1.37-3.82),allergy history(OR=5.63,95%CI:4.22-7.51),living within 100 m from a garbage station(OR=1.96,95%CI:1.07-3.59)and purchase of a piece of large furniture within the past year(OR=1.81,95%CI:1.11-2.94)were risk factors of respiratory diseases in school children;while being girls(OR=0.71,95%CI:0.55-0.92)and always wearing masks in days of severe pollution(OR=0.53,95%CI:0.35-0.80)were protective factors of respiratory diseases in school children.Conclusions Sex,family history of respiratory disease,allergy history,garbage station within 100m from residence,large furniture purchased within the pasted year,and wearing masks in heavily polluted days are influencing factors of respiratory diseases in primary school students.
