Status of active aging and its influencing factors in Gansu Province
Objective To analyze the status quo and influencing factors of active aging among the elderly people in Gansu Province,so as to provide evidence for promoting active aging in underdeveloped areas. Methods According to"health, participation, security"measurement framework of active aging as defined by World Health Organization,a quantitative questionnaire was designed, and used in a face-to-face cross-sectional survey among the people aged 60-80 years selected using multi-stage stratified random sampling from eastern, central and western Gansu Province from December 2021 to September 2022.The current status of active aging of the participants were assessed, and the influence of individual factors on active aging and their interaction with social factors were analyzed. Results A total of 2 458 participants were recruited. The scores(on the scale of 0-100)of the three dimensions of"health, participation, and security"of active aging of the 2 458 respondents were(79.12±11.19),(63.43±16.23),and(71.82±12.52),respectively.The score in the eastern region(77.49±7.61)was higher than that of the central region(69.44±10.51)and the western region(71.22±10.76).Among the individual factors, gender, previous occupation, living status had interaction with region(the social factor)in their effects on active aging.Younger age 60-<70(OR=0.53,95%CI:0.36-0.77)and income>2 000 yuan(OR=1.93,95%CI:1.34-2.78)were two individual factors that were independent protective factors of active aging. Conclusions Among the dimensions of active aging, the levels of"health"and"security"are higher compared to the level of"participation"among the elderly in Gansu Province. The development of active aging is unbalanced across different regions, due to complex influencing factors.
