Impacts of obesity epidemic on the population development in China and policy recommendations
Obesity has become a critical global public health concern,with numerous serious health and economic consequences.The obesity epidemic affects multiple health outcomes and aging,affects reproductive health,exacerbates the trend of declining birth rates,and impacts the high-quality development of the population.Although China has formulated various obesity prevention and control policies,action plans,and guidelines,the implementation effectiveness remains unsatisfactory,especially in areas such as obesity treatment,dissemination of knowledge on obesity prevention and control,and the creation of a healthy eating environment.It is crucial to deepen our understanding of the adverse effects of the obesity epidemic on population development.This article summarizes the impact of the obesity epidemic on population development,aiming to improve the knowledge of the hazards of obesity and elevate societal awareness of how obesity influences population development.Additionally,it systematically reviews the current national policies and guidelines concerning obesity prevention and control,draws on incorporating global insights,and proposes countermeasures and policy recommendations to alleviate the prevalence and harm of obesity,promote high-quality population development,and provide a solid foundation for promoting the construction of a healthy China and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
