Evaluation of tuberculosis infection and influencing factors among close family contacts of tuberculosis patients in Pudong New Area of Shanghai
Objective To analyze the current status and risk factors of tuberculosis infection among close family contacts of tuberculosis patients in Pudong New Area of Shanghai, and to provide a reference for prevention and intervention for tuberculosis infection among them. Methods This study sequentially included close family contacts of registered pulmonary tuberculosis patients living in the Pudong New Area from January to December 2022,conducted a questionnaire survey and tuberculosis infection testing, and analyzed the influencing factors using univariate and multivariate logistic regression models. Results A total of 360 close family contacts of tuberculosis patients were included in this study, among which 109 close family contacts tested positive for γ-interferon release assay(IGRA),and the overall positive rate was 30.28%.The positive rate of children and spouse relationships was the highest,at 34.48%and 34.04%,respectively.Further CT examinations were performed among those whose IGRA was positive, and 22(20.18%)of them had abnormal imaging results. The results of multivariate logistic analysis showed that close contacts who were manufacturing workers(OR=7.13,95%CI:1.21-42.06,P=0.030),had general household environmental hygiene(OR=1.95,95%CI:1.11-3.43,P=0.020),were active smokers(OR=3.03,95%CI:1.51-6.08,P=0.002),were passive smokers(OR=2.72,95%CI:1.18-4.03,P=0.013),and had daily contact time with pulmonary tuberculosis patients more than 60 minutes(OR=2.49,95%CI:1.16-5.34,P=0.019)had a higher risk of tuberculosis infection. Conclusions The overall positive rate of tuberculosis infection among close family contacts of tuberculosis patients in Pudong New Area,Shanghai was relatively high.In that case, targeted interventions should be proactive for people at higher risk of infection.
