Epidemiological characteristics analysis of neural tube defects during the perinatal infants in Guiyang City, from 2014 to 2022
Objective This study aims to investigate the prevalence status of neural tube defects(NTDs)in Guiyang City, from 2014 to 2022 and to provide a basis for comprehensive prevention and control measures of NTDs.Methods Based on hospital monitoring data, this study analyzed perinatal infants and detected NTDs cases from 80 birth defect monitoring institutions in Guiyang City from 2014 to 2022.The Chi-square test was used to compare the difference in the incidence rates of NTDs among different groups, and the changing trend was analyzed using the Joinpoint 4.9.1.0 software. Results A total of 574 542 perinatal infants and 439 NTDs infants were monitored in Guiyang City from 2014 to 2022,including 120 cases of NTDs with a gestational age ≥ 28 weeks, resulting in a perinatal NTDs incidence rate of 2.09 per 10 000.105 NTDs cases were associated with different types of congenital anomalies, with the most common being talipes equinovarus 19 cases. The incidence rate of perinatal NTDs in Guiyang City decreased from 6.77/10 000 in 2014 to 0.31/10 000 in 2022,with a decrease of 95.42%.From 2014 to 2022,the overall incidence of the NTDs showed a decreasing trend. There were significant differences in the incidence of NTDs among different maternal ages, residential areas, and number of fetuses(x2=38.035,74.582,16.561,P<0.01).Conclusions From 2014 to 2022,the incidence rates of NTDs in Guiyang City showed a downward trend.Pregnant women living in rural areas, with maternal age<20,and with multiple fetuses are at increased risk of NTDs during pregnancy.
