Tibial tubercle transfer surgery is a bony adjustment procedure performed in patients with patellar instability to restore normal patellar motion trajectory, correct abnormal patellar height, and restore patellar stability by adjusting the position of the tibial tubercle. However, there are various surgical techniques for tibial tubercle transfer, with significant differences in indications, treatment outcomes, and complications among different procedures.A comprehensive understanding of the surgical indications, key points of operation, complications, and clinical outcomes of tibial tubercle transfer surgery is crucial for clinicians to choose the optimal surgical approach based on individual patient conditions. Therefore, the authors provide a review of the advancements in the application of tibial tubercle transfer in the treatment of patellar instability.
