Economic evaluation of bupivacaine liposomes for local infiltration and brachial plexus nerve block in the interosseous groove versus continuous nerve block in postoperative analgesia
Objective To evaluate the economics of bupivacaine liposome injection for postoperative analgesia after local infiltration, interosseous groove brachial plexus nerve block compared with continuous nerve block protocols based on the perspective of the Chinese healthcare system. Methods CKNI,PubMed,and Embase databases were searched (each database build to 1 June 2023) for randomised controlled trials, prospective studies,or retrospective studies in which bupivacaine liposome injection was used as the intervention group and continuous nerve block as the control group. A cost analysis was then conducted to compare the economics of bupivacaine liposome injection versus continuous nerve block for postoperative analgesia. Results The results of the baseline analysis showed that bupivacaine liposome injection used for local infiltration or interosseous groove brachial plexus nerve block for postoperative analgesia could save the total cost of 1030.91 yuan and 1238.60 yuan, respectively, compared with the continuous nerve block protocol. The results of the probabilistic sensitivity analysis showed that the probability of bupivacaine liposome injection being economical was 97.8% and 100.0%,respectively. Conclusion The cost analysis showed that bupivacaine liposome injection for local infiltration and interosseous sulcus brachial plexus nerve block was more economical than continuous nerve block for postoperative analgesia.
