Objective To identify research hotspots in the field of hospital performance management in China and provide recommendations for improving hospital management and performance evaluation.Methods The CiteSpace software was used to visually analyze the literature related to hospital management and performance in China from 2000 to 2022 in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)journal database.Results A total of 3,241 articles related to hospital management and performance in China were included.The number of papers published between 2000 and 2022 exhibited a year-on-year increase.Knowledge mapping showed no distinct core research groups,and the research focus did not exhibit a significant concentration.From 2000 to 2005,research on hospital management and performance mainly focused on medical human resource management.From 2006 to 2010,and from 2011 to 2020,it mainly focused on hospital reform and quality control.In 2021 and 2022,Research focused on performance appraisal,operational management,refined management and risk management.Conclusion research on hospital performance management in China is closely related to the introduction and implementation of relevant policies.The research on performance management of public hospitals needs to be broadened and deepened in terms of theme and content.Cooperation among authors and institutions should be strengthened to form a broader and more in-depth research network.The use of hospital management evaluation tools for the precise management,evaluation and assessment of public hospitals may be a crucial area of research in the future.
