Objective To evaluate the infection risk events in a tertiary psychiatric hospital and determine the key points of priority intervention, and provide evidence in precise infection prevention and control. Methods The hazard vulnerability analysis(HVA)was used.Through brainstorming and literature review,we screened 23 indicators for assessing hospital infection risks in the psychiatric hospital, for which a questionnaire-based survey was conducted among 51 full-time/part-time doctors and nurses. The relative risk values were calculated based on the Kaiser model, and the risk zone was delineated by matrix analysis. Results The top five risks were poor hand hygiene compliance, substandard layout of infection control buildings, poor awareness of infection, insufficient occupational protection, and unqualified cleaning and disinfection. The matrix analysis revealed that 6 indicators were in the high-risk zone,9 in the medium-risk zone, and 8 in the low-risk zone. Conclusion The overall risk of nosocomial infection in the psychiatric hospital is not high.Identifying risk events via HVA helps hospital managers to take targeted interventions for high-risk events, thus reducing the incidence of nosocomial infection.
