Objective To investigate the role of multi-disciplinary team(MDT)management mode in improving the punctuality rate of starting the first surgery. Methods A total of 13,280 inpatients undergoing surgical operations with MDT management in our hospital from January to December 2021 were selected as the observation group, and 11,111 inpatients receiving surigical operations without MDT in our hospital from January to December 2020 were used as the control group. The punctuality rate of starting the first surgery and other related indicators were compared between these two groups. Results The punctuality rate of starting the first surgery was significantly higher in the observation group than in control group(53.70%vs 6.55%;P<0.05).Compared with the control group, more surgeries were operated in the observation group. The cost of each operation decreased by 559.04 yuan, and the average cost of surgery for patients decreased by 1 848 yuan. The average hospital stay of surgical patients decreased by 0.31 days(all P<0.05).Conclusion The application of the MDT in surgical management can effectively raise the punctuality rate of starting the first surgery, thereby improving the efficiency of the operating rooms, reducing the surgical cost, and increasing the economic and social benefits of the hospitals.
