Objective To explore the strategies and protocols of high-quality talent training by searching articles in China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)database and by investigating the status quo of talent training in a medical institution in Tianjin. Methods The content analysis method was employed to analyze the hotspots of research on medical talent training carried out by Chinese scholars over the past two decades.Meanwhile,246 high-quality talents at a medical institution in Tianjin were surveyed to identify the key factors affecting talent development. Results The policy implications, training pathways, evaluation systems, and talent incentive and assurance mechanisms were identified to be the hot research areas. However, the training mechanisms and platform construction were still suboptimal. The main issues included low academic output among young talents with high education credentials, excessive emphasis on background review over practical assessment within talent projects, and inadequate support for continuous education or advanced studies. Conclusion Medical institutions should further optimize their talent training mechanisms by proactively establishing medical alliances and scientific research platforms, prioritizing capacity and performance in talent selection and training, and encouraging continuous education or advanced studies.
