Objective To investigate the current status,hotspots,and evolutionary trends of research in medical malpractice identification(MMI)in China,in an attempt to provide references for future research.Methods A visual analysis of the literature on MII sourced from the CNKI database from its inception through December 31,2023 was conducted using the CiteSpace 6.3.R1 software.Results A total of 764 valid articles were included in the study.The first article on MMI in the CNKI database was published in 1999,and there had been a consistently upward trend in the annual article volume over the past 24 years.The institutions and authors were mainly in the Eastern and Central regions,but with limited cooperation.The key research hotspots included applicable laws,medical appraisal systems,causality determination,and appraisal opinions.Conclusion Research in MMI is becoming increasingly intensive,with the main research focus shifting from applicable laws and medical appraisal systems to examination of causal relationships and formulation of appraisal opinions.The application of forensic science in medical malpractice appraisals will emerge as a sustained area of interest.
