A"Hospitals Within a Hospital"(HWH)management model has been adopted in a tertiary Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)hospital in Hangzhou to enhance the capacity-building of clinical specialities.This article explores the practice of"building the strongest independent speciality"in the context of HWH from three dimensions:conditions for the establishment of hospitals;management models/values;and development strategies.The HWH model fosters a premium specialty brand,encourages interdisciplinary collaboration,improves patient well-being,and maximizes benefits for both hospitals and patients.The future development of HWH hinges on unified leadership by the general hospital,talent recruitment and training,cultivating strong specialty groups,and creation of hospital brand and culture,thus driving the growth of other departments and specialities and promoting the high-quality development of the hospital as a whole.
