Practice of the"one department in two hospitals"mode in a department of critical care medicine of a district hospital in the context of compact medical alliance construction
Taking the compact medical alliance construction as the starting point,Shanghai municipal government is committed to enhance its hierarchical diagnosis and treatment system by raising the capacity of diagnosing and treating emergent and critical cases,building district hospitals into regional medical centers,thus satisfying the medical needs of the general public.In September 2021,the Chongming Branch of Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital,based on the"District Government Owned-Municipal Hospital Managed"trusteeship mode,selected the Department of Critical Care Medicine,which was once facing closure,as the pilot department for the co-construction of"one department in two hospitals".Accordingly,capacity-building efforts including the sharing of high-quality medical resources within the medical alliance and the training of professional teams were offered for the previously weak department.After two years of pilot work,the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Chongming Branch has made remarkable achievements in service capacity,processional training,cooperative platform construction,and regional outreach,which may offer a new pathway for the upgrade of weak departments within the framework of compact medical alliance construction.
