To meet the escalating needs on medical services among Chinese populations,the smart departments of clinical nutrition should be established guided by the national public hospital development policies,taking advantage of the"smart hospital"initiative,information science and technology development,and innovative activities,so as to promote dual improvement in both medical efficiency and healthcare quality.Based on the practice of constructing the smart clinical nutrition department in Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital,this paper discusses the"trinity"informatization of the clinical nutrition department,namely smart medical care,smart service,and smart management and analyzes the potential challenges and countermeasures,in attempt to provide insights into the construction of smart clinical nutrition departments in China.
