Objective To investigate the importance of medical equipment management in secondary public hospitals in the context of diagnostic-related groups(DRG)payment,in an attempt to improve the refined medical equipment management.Methods The challenges in the management of medical equipment in secondary public hospitals were analyzed in three aspects:underutilization,high operational and maintenance costs,and short equipment life cycle.Results Three targeted strategies for medical equipment management were proposed:establishing and improving the medical equipment management regulations;enhancing information technology infrastructure;and advancing the cost-benefit analytical capabilities pertaining to medical equipment.Conclusion The author emphasized the important role of medical equipment management in the development of secondary public hospitals theoretically and provided new insights into the refined management of medical equipment,thus promoting the high-quality development of secondary public hospitals.
