Objective To explore the rationality and efficiency of a novel model,which integrates target-based KPI performance assessment with 360-degree performance evaluation and event-based assessment,in assessing the performance of the directors of hospital business departments.Methods The index system of relevant forms was revised based on literature review and Delphi method.In 2018,a mixed-methods approach,incorporating both questionnaire-based surveys and key informant interviews,was employed to conduct a survey among the directors of business departments within the teaching hospitals of our institution.The performance of these directors was assessed utilizing the new model.Results The departmental director prioritized management tasks and proactively fostered enhancements in the departments'medical quality,service standards,scientific research,and educational endeavors.The comprehensive management of the hospital has evolved to a more sophisticated level and the management and operational mechanisms have been optimized,leading to a marked increase in work efficiency and a substantial improvement in service quality.Conclusion The novel performance appraisal framework,which integrates targeted KPI performance assessment,360-degree performance evaluation,and event-based evaluation,facilitates a scientific and efficacious assessment of the directors of the hospitals'business departments.This approach is instrumental in advancing the development of hospital disciplines and enhancing the overall precision of the hospitals'management practices.
