Objective To explore the role of coping styles and social support in the relationship between parental care burden and quality of life. Methods A total of 200 premature infants and their parents who were admitted to the First Hospital of Qinhuangdao from October 2021 to October 2022 were investigated.Social characteristics of the subjects were investigated by using a self-made general data table. The coping style, social support, caring burden and quality of life of the parents of preterm infants were investigated by parental coping style scale(CHIP),social support scale(SSRS),caring burden scale(ZBI)and family caregiver quality of life scale(FAMQOL),respectively.Pearson correlation was used to analyze the correlation among the above variables. To explore the role of coping styles and social support in the relationship between care burden and quality of life of parents of preterm infants. Results 12 invalid questionnaires were excluded, and 188 valid questionnaires were recovered, with an effective recovery rate of 94.00%.Pearson correlation analysis showed that caregiving burden was negatively correlated with coping style, social support and quality of life, while quality of life was positively correlated with coping style and social support. The results of Bootstrap method show that the total mediating effect of the three paths is sig-nificant,and the mediating effect value is-0.445,and the total mediating effect accounts for 52.66%of the total effect.Among them, path 1(caring burden →coping style → quality of life),path 2(caring burden → social support →quality of life)and path 3(caring burden→coping style →social support →quality of life)accounted for 14.79%,6.98%and 30.89%of the mediating factors. Conclusion The quality of life of new parents is related to care burden, coping style and social support.Coping style and social support play an intermediary role in the relationship between care burden and quality of life of new parents.
