Research progress on long-term dysplasia after middle and late preterm birth
Common perinatal problems should be avoided in middle and late preterm infants(MLPT).Compared with full-term newborns,MLPT are more likely to have respiratory complications, feeding difficulties,hypoglycemia,hypo-thermia,hyperbilirubinemia,and neurodevelopmental delays,as well as later developmental delays in nutrition, learning and long-term education, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and autism spectrum disorder.Infants born with MLPT face higher morbidity and mortality, longer hospital stays, higher readmission rates, and a large public health burden, and there may be long-term varying degrees of stunted outcomes after MLPT.Therefore, more attention should be paid to follow-up care, regular re-evaluation,and more comprehensive interventions and treatment strategies should be developed.
