Objective:To explore the resources of medicinal ornamental plants in Qinling-bashan Mountains area of Shaanxi Province,and to provide an effective way for biodiversity conservation planning and scientific management in the region.Methods:The medicinal ornamental plants in 45 counties(districts)in Qinling-bashan Mountains area of Shaanxi Province were cataloged and distrib-uted through literature search and online database.And their family and genus composition,medicinal parts,ornamental characteristics,garden use,threatened status,diversity distribution pattern and con-servation vacancies were analyzed.Results:140 families,500 genera,and 906 species were mostly herbaceous plants.From the viewpoint of medicinal parts,the most medicinal plants were whole grass-es.From the viewpoint of ornamental characteristics,the most plants were flower-viewing plants.From the viewpoint of garden use,the most plants were groundcovers.Based on the distribution pat-tern of the diversity level of the species at the county scale,it showed a trend of increasing from the northeast to the southwest.The hotspot counties were Taibai and Meixian counties,and the western and southeastern counties were the hotspot counties.The hotspot counties were Taibai County and Meixian County,and most of the medicinal ornamental plants in the western and southeastern parts of the coun-try were in the state of protection vacancy.In the vertical distribution,the species richness showed a single-peak pattern of increasing and then decreasing with the increase of elevation.Conclusion:The results of this study provided a scientific basis for the sustainable development and utilization of medici-nal ornamental plant resources in Qinling-bashan Mountains area of Shaanxi Province,as well as the establishment of nature reserves in the future.
