Objective:To investigate the skin whitening and protective effects of pectin extracted from Ficus carica. Methods:Compound enzymatic hydrolysis combined with hot distilled water method was applied for the extraction of F.carica pectin. The anti-aging,whitening,and anti-wrinkle activi-ties of F.carica pectin on the skin were evaluated through various analyses, including free radical scav-enging rates, inhibition of tyrosinase and elastase, and a biological whitening experiment of zebrafish model. Results:As extracted F.carica pectin concentration reached 2 mg/mL,the inhibition rates of melanin and tyrosinase in zebrafish embryos were significant by 84.8%and 76.1%,respectively.Fur-thermore,the free radical clearance rate and elastase inhibition rate were also enhanced with higher concentrations of F.carica pectin, reaching 85.4%and 68.7%.Conclusion:F.carica pectin demon-strated excellent free radical scavenging activity,as well as inhibition of tyrosinase and elastase.There-fore,it held promise for application in skincare cosmetics aimed at anti-aging,whitening,and anti-wrinkle effects.
