Objective:Through the Fourth Survey of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)resources,the diversity and distribution characteristics of medicinal plants under different vegetation types were re-vealed in Yongxiu County,which provided the scientific basis for putting forword the protection and utilization strategy of medicinal plant resources.Methods:Using sample plot investigation method,the diversity and variation of medicinal plants,including the key medicinal plants,under different vegeta-tion types were investigated and analyzed to reveal the distribution characteristics of medicinal plants in Yongxiu County.Results:676 species of wild medicinal plants belonging to 137 families and 383 gen-era were investigated.The abundance of medicinal plants increased with the progressive succession of vegetation.The composition of dominant families among different vegetation types were different.Herbal medicinal plants accounted for a large proportion in all vegetation types.The medicinal parts were mainly whole grass,roots and rhizomes,leaves and branches,and rattan stems.Jaccard index analysis showed that medicinal plants were moderately dissimilar or very dissimilar among different vegetation types.The key medicinal plants were relatively abundant in grassland and broad-leaved for-est vegetation types.Conclusion:The medicinal plant resources were rich in Yongxiu County.There were significant differences in the composition and abundance of medicinal plant resources under differ-ent vegetation types,indicating that vegetation type was an important factor affecting the distribution of medicinal plants.In addition,water was one of the main factors influencing the distribution of me-dicinal plants.According to the distribution characteristics of medicinal plants,some feasible sugges-tions were put forward for the protection and utilization of medicinal plants in Yongxiu County.
