Objective:To study the diversity of seed traits and geographical variation of Toona sinensis from different provenances, which would provide theoretical basis for the collection and presevation of T.sinensis germplasm resources and breeding of improved varieties. Methods:The phenotypic charac-ters and quality characters were measured from eight provenances of T.sinensis in Guizhou. The vari-ance analysis and correlation analysis were carried out,and the seed quality was evaluated by principal component analysis. Results:There were differences in seed length, seed width, length width ratio,thousand-grain weight, germination rate, germination potential, germination index and germination rate of field among different provenances of T.sinensis.The variation coefficient of seed traits ranging from 5.26% to 13.86% among different provenances. The coefficient of variation of thousand-grain weight was the largest. The largest thousand-grain weight of Anlong provenance was 18.67 g,which was significantly higher than other provenances. The seed length was significantly positively correlated with seed width, length width ratio,thousand-grain weight, germination rate and germination index. The seed width was significantly positively correlated with thousand-grain weight. The length width ra-tio was significantly positively correlated with thousand-grain weight, germination rate and germina-tion index.Conclusion:Thousand-grain weight, seed length and germination rate could be used as the main indexes of seed quality evaluation of T.sinensis.Comprehensive evaluation showed that the seed quality of Anlong provenance was the best, followed by Guanling provenance.
