Objective:To provide a scientific basis for better conservation and sustainable utilization of wild medicinal plants in Xinjiang. Methods:The flora, life form, and medicinal parts of wild medici-nal plants in Xinjiang Tumur Peak National Nature Reserve were analyzed based on plot and transect surveys, specimen collection and identification, species information recording, data compilation from field surveys, and literature review. Results:A total of 324 species from 216 genera and 60 families of wild medicinal plants were identified in Xinjiang Tumur Peak National Nature Reserve.Families with few species were the most common(25 families),followed by families with a single species(19 fami-lies),moderate-sized families(10 families),large families(6 families),and 2 very large families(Asteraceae and Fabaceae).Monotypic genera accounted for the largest proportion, with 156 genera.Herbaceous medicinal plants dominated the life forms of wild medicinal plants in the reserve,account-ing for 77.32% .The statistical analysis of medicinal parts indicated that whole plants and rhizomes ac-counted for the largest proportion,at 69.19% .Conclusion:The reserve harbored a considerable num-ber of key medicinal plants and rare endangered medicinal plant species.Only through effective protec-tion and sustainable utilization of wild medicinal plant resources could true sustainability be achieved.
