Objective:To identify the bHLH transcription factor family in Centella asiatica and utilize bioinformatics to analyze the physicochemical properties of their proteins and related properties in the genome, providing a theoretical basis for the study of CabHLH gene family in the regulation of triter-pene biosynthesis in C.asiatica.Methods:Screening the CabHLH gene family of C.asiatica based on the characteristics of the bHLH gene family, and conducting bioinformatics and expression analysis. Results:A total of 137 CabHLH genes, named CabHLH001 to CabHLH137,were identified via ge-nome and transcriptome. All CabHLH proteins contained bHLH domain. Most of them were hydrophilic proteins and distributed in the nucleus.Phylogenetic tree analysis showed that CabHLH proteins could be divided into 16 groups and 29 subgroups, similar to the systematic classification of bHLH proteins in Arabidopsis thaliana. There was a large amount of gene duplication of CabHLHs in the C.asiatica genome. The collinear analysis of the genome of C.asiatica and A.thaliana showed less gene pairs, which may have similar biological functions. The 137 CabHLH genes were differently expressed in leaf, stem and root. The expression of CabHLH017,CabHLH023,CabHLH096 and CabHLH076 was induced by methyl jasmonate and highly expressed in leaves. Conclusion:A total of 137 CabHLH genes obtained from C.asiatica genome contained the sequence characteristics of subfamily classifica-tion and different gene expression. The CabHLHs,which were highly expressed and responsive to methyl jasmonate in leaves, may play a role in regulating triterpene biosynthesis in the plant.
