Objective:This study aimed to investigate the types,distribution,and efficacy of medicinal plants in Beichuan County,Sichuan Province. Methods:Using data from the fourth national survey of traditional Chinese medicine resources,field investigations were conducted to collect and identify speci-mens for statistical analysis of the types,distribution,and efficacy of medicinal plant resources in Beich-uan County. Results:Beichuan County was home to 202 species of medicinal plants,belonging to 159 genera in 74 families. This included 12 species of ferns in 9 genera of 7 families,accounting for 5.9%;3 families,3 genera,and 3 species of gymnosperms,accounting for 1.5%;1 family,1 genus,and 1 species of lichen plants,accounting for 0.5%;and 186 species of angiosperms in 146 genera of 63 families,accounting for 92.1%. Additionally,there were 7 species of nationally protected wild plants,102 varieties listed in the 2020 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia,66 key medicinal plants,and 16 authentic Sichuan medicinal herbs. The medicinal plants were divided into 16 types of medicinal efficacy and 8 categories of medicinal parts. Conclusion:Beichuan County possessed a diverse range of medicinal plant resources with promising prospects for development and utilization. However,the pres-ence of rare and protected varieties was limited,necessitating increased research and conservation efforts to ensure the sustainable development of traditional Chinese medicine resources in Beichuan County.
