Objective:To grasp the main ecological factors affecting the growth of Forsythia suspensa. This study aimed to predict the distribution of F. suspensa in suitable areas in Shanxi Province, which could provide reference for the rational distribution of F. suspensa resources in Shanxi Province. Meth-ods:The distribution data of F. suspensa sample points included in the "Fourth National Survey of Tra-ditional Chinese Medicine Resources in Shanxi Province" database were adopted. Supplemented by searching the China Digital Herbarium and retrieving related literature records. 210 F. suspensa sample points distribution data and ecological factors were added to the MaxEnt model for analysis. The model screened out the main ecological factors and contribution rates affecting the geographical distribution of F. suspensa. The geographic information system (ArcGIS) software was used to divide the ecological suitable area of F. suspensa in Shanxi Province. Results:The AUC value of the established MaxEnt model was 0.908,indicating that the prediction results of the model were accurate. A total of 23 ecolog-ical factors were screened out, such as the standard deviation of seasonal temperature change,vegeta-tion type, coldest month and wettest month precipitation. Among them, climate factor was the most im-portant ecological factor affecting the distribution of F. suspensa, followed by biological factor and top-ographic factor. The influence of soil factors was the smallest. The potential suitable areas of F. suspen-sa in Shanxi Province were mainly distributed in the southern mountainous areas. The suitability level gradually decreases from south to north. Under the current climatic conditions, the most suitable area of F. suspensa in Shanxi Province was 12830 km2,the suitable area was 15467 km2,the secondary suitable area was 34410 km2,and the unsuitable area was 93993 km2. Conclusion:Based on MaxEnt model and ArcGIS software, this study predicted the distribution of F. suspensa suitable areas in Shanxi Province, which has certain reference value for the protection and rational distribution of F. sus-pensa resources in Shanxi Province.
