With advances in medicine and technology,the application of artificial intelligence(AI)and telemedicine technologies in ophthalmology is revolutionizing the field.AI has demonstrated great potential in diagnosis,prognosis prediction and adjustment of treatment protocols for fundus diseases.Telemedicine technology has enhanced the accessibility and efficiency of healthcare services.AI-based telemedicine and home monitoring devices have been widely used for screening and monitoring of fundus diseases.Despite significant progress in the application of AI and telemedicine technologies in ophthalmology,there are still many challenges in real-world clinical applications.Looking ahead,AI and telemedicine technologies will become important directions for development in the medical field,with the expectation of achieving broader applications.To overcome existing challenges,extensive collaboration among multidisciplinary teams of doctors,technologists,and data scientists will be required to provide high-quality,sustainable healthcare services and ensure the effective integration and application of these technologies.
