Based on Hei and Yang(2023)'s study on the set phrase li ci wei zhao zhe(立此为照者)in contract documents of the Yuan Dynasty, the paper proposes that zhe(者)in this phrase differs from the zhe in Chinese and it is not a translation of the imperative affix in Mongolian.Instead, zhe is originated from the sentence-final demonstrative particle(j)e which is used for emphasis in Mongolian.Zhe is a transliteration of(j)e which can also be translated as na ban zhe(那般者,"that's it").The argument that zhe comes from the imperatives used as declaratives in Mongolian needs further discussion.
