Intervention Effect of Continuous Cold Compress During Drug Treatment After Mandibular Impacted Wisdom Teeth Extraction
Objective:To investigate the effects of continuous cold compress combined with local dexamethasone injection on swelling, pain and complications after mandibularimpacted wisdom teeth extraction. Methods:A total of 92 patients with impacted mandibular impacted wisdom teeth admitted to our hospital from March 2022 to March 2023 were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 46 patients in each group. Both groups were treated with local injection of dexamethasone. On this basis, the control group was given routine nursing intervention, and the observation group was given continuous cold compress on the basis of the control group. The postoperative swelling, pain, limitation of mouth opening, quality of life and postoperative complications were compared between the two groups. Results:At 12 h and 24 h after operation, the degree of facial swelling in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).At 6 h,12 h and 24 h after operation, the visual analogue score(VAS)of the observation group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).At 7 days after operation, the degree of limitation of mouth opening in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of Postoperative Symptom Severity Scale(PoSSe)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group was 4.35%,which was lower than 15.22%in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Continuous cold compress combined with local injection of dexamethasone can reduce the swelling after extraction of mandibular impacted wisdom teeth, relieve pain, improve the degree of mouth opening limitation and quality of life, and reduce the incidence of postoperative complications.
