Effect of Yiqing Capsule Combined with Metronidazole in the Treatment of Chronic Periodontitis and its Impact on Chewing Function and Inflammatory Factors
Objective:To study the effect ofYiqing capsule combined with metronidazole in the treatment of chronic periodontitis and its impact on chewing function and inflammatory factors.Methods:A total of 86 patients with chronic periodontitis admitted to our hospital from January 2021 to December 2022 were randomly divided into control group and observation group,with 43 patients in each group.The control group was treated with metronidazole,and the observation group was treated with Yiqing capsule on the basis of the control group.The periodontal indexes[gingival index(GI),tooth mobility(MD),sulcus bleeding index(SBI),periodontal pocket depth(PD)and plaque index(PLI)],masticatory function score and inflammatory factors[interleukin-1β(IL-1β),C-reactive protein(CRP),interleukin-6(IL-6),soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1)and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)]were compared between the two groups.Results:After treatment,GI,MD,SBI,PD and PLI in the two groups were lower than those before treatment,and those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the scores of food requirements,chewing stability,digestion,chewing food,eating and tooth fixation in the two groups were higher than those before treatment,and those in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of serum IL-1β,CRP,IL-6,sICAM-1 and TNF-α in the two groups were lower than those before treatment,and those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Yiqing capsule combined with metronidazole is effective in the treatment of chronic periodontitis,which can effectively improve periodontal index and masticatory function,reduce inflammatory reaction,and is worthy of clinical application.
