Effect of Tranexamic Acid in Elderly Patients During Total Knee Arthroplasty
Objective:To investigate the effect of tranexamic acid on postoperative rehabilitation in elderly patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty. Methods:A retrospective analysis of 92 elderly patients with total knee arthroplasty admitted to the department of orthopedics of our hospital from March 2019 to July 2021 was conducted as the research object.According to different treatment methods, the patients were divided into treatment group(n=48)and control group(n=44).The control group was given routine treatment, and the treatment group was given intravenous infusion of tranexamic acid before incision closure. The blood transfusion rate, blood transfusion volume, postoperative blood loss, hidden blood loss, hemoglobin(Hb),red blood cell count(RBC),subjective pain score, joint circumference and complication rate were compared between the two groups. Results:The blood transfusion rate, blood transfusion volume, postoperative blood loss and hidden blood loss in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The postoperative Hb and RBC in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The pain score and joint circumference of the treatment group were lower than those of the control group at 7 d and 14 d after operation(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The use of tranexamic acid after total knee arthroplasty in the elderly can control the postoperative blood loss of patients, reduce pain, promote the recovery of joint function, and have high safety.
