Effect of Buspirone Combined with Duloxetine in the Treatment of Elderly Patients with Anxiety and Depression
Objective:To explore the clinical effect of buspirone combined with duloxetine in the treatment of senile depression with anxiety symptoms. Methods:According to the random number table method,85 elderly depression patients with anxiety symptoms admitted to Xuchang Jian'an Hospital from January 2022 to January 2024 were divided into control group(n=42,duloxetine)and observation group(n=43,duloxetine+buspirone).Both groups were treated for 8 weeks. The anxiety symptoms, depression symptoms, serum 5-hydroxytryptamine level, norepinephrine level, sleep quality and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:After 8 weeks of treatment, the scores of Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, while the serum levels of serotonin and norepinephrine were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:The combination of buspirone and duloxetine can alleviate anxiety and depression symptoms in elderly patients with depression accompanied by anxiety symptoms, improve serum serotonin and norepinephrine levels, enhance sleep quality, and do not significantly increase adverse reactions.
