Study on Changes in Serum Sex Hormone Levels in Male Heroin Addicts
Objective:To explore the difference of sex hormone levels between male heroin addicts and healthy men. Methods:A total of 28 male heroin addicts who had received compulsory or voluntary drug treatment in a male compulsory isolation drug rehabilitation center in Ningxia region from March 2023 to August 2023 were selected as the observation group, and 25 healthy males from a hospital in Yinchuan during the same period of physical examination were selected as the control group.Serum levels of testosterone(T),prolactin(PRL),estradiol(E2),luteinizing hormone(LH)and follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH)were compared between the two groups. Results:The level of LH,FSH and T in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the level of PRL was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),but there was no statistical significance in the level of E2 between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Heroin addiction can change the level of male serum sex hormones, leading to dysfunction of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis in male heroin addicts.
