Efficacy of Polymyxin B Combined with Sulbactam Sodium in the Treatment of Secondary Infections in Patients with Multidrug-resistant Gram-negative Bacterial Colonization or Infection After Hospitalization
Objective:To explore the efficacy of polymyxin B combined with sulbactam sodium in the treatment of secondary infection in patients colonized or infected by multi-drug resistant gram-negative bacteria after hospitalization. Methods:A total of 186 critically ill patients treated in the ICU of the Jiaozuo Third People's Hospital and Xuzhou Seventh People's Hospital from January 2020 to June 2024 were selected and randomly divided into polymyxin B treatment group and control group according to different treatment methods, with 93 patients in each group. The control group was treated with sulbactam sodium for injection, and the polymyxin Bgroup was treated with sulbactam sodium combined with polymyxin B.The total effective rate, clearance rate of multi-drug resistant gram-negative bacteria, length of stay and hospitalization cost were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate and clearance rate of multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteria in polymyxin-E treatment group were 98.92%and 97.85%,respectively,which were higher than 81.72%and 73.12%in the control group, and the hospitalization time and hospitalization cost in polymyxin-E treatment group were lower than those in the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion:Polymyxin B combined with sulbactam sodium can improve the efficacy of multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteria colonized or infected patients, increase the clearance rate of multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteria, shorten the hospital stay of patients, and reduce the economic burden of patients.
