Exploration on the Pharmacological and Toxicological Effects of Processing on Fleeceflower Root
Objective:To explore the effect of processing on the pharmacological and toxicological effects of fleeceflower root. Methods:Fleeceflower root was processed by Nine Steaming and Nine Sunning method, and processed by pharmacopoeia method. High performance liquid chromatography was used to determine the content of 2,3,5,4'-tetrahydroxystilbene glucoside (stilbene glucoside),emodin, emodin methyl ether and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) in fleeceflower root under the corresponding chromatographic conditions, and the changes of pharmacological components and toxicological components were analyzed. Results:The contents of pharmacological components were (29.18±0.78) mg/g before processing and (29.52±0.98) mg/g after processing, and the differences were not statistically significant when comparing between groups (P>0.05). There was significant difference in the content of emodin before and after processing (P<0.05). There was no 5-HMF in the raw product before processing, and the content was 0.0456 mg/g after processing by Nine Steaming and Nine Sunning method. Conclusion:The processed products of fleeceflower root still have good pharmacological effects, reduce the content of toxic components. And 5-HMF is the key to distinguish raw products. In clinical application,it is necessary to strictly distinguish the two, strictly control the dosage, and avoid toxic reactions caused by excessive application.
