Clinical efficacy of Chaihu Shugan San with modified ear acupoint seed embedding in patients with ad-vanced malignant tumors after chemotherapy
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy,quality of life,serum biochemical parameters,and safety of Chaihu Shugan San combined with ear acupoint seed embedding in the treatment of insomnia after chemotherapy for advanced malignant tumors,and to provide evidence for improving the clinical treatment efficacy.Methods A total of 60 cases of advanced malignant tumor patients with insomnia after chemotherapy treated at the Sanmenxia Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from February 2020 to February 2023 were divided into a control group and an observation group using the random number table method,with 30 cases in each group.The control group was treated with Eszolam,while the observation group was treated with Chaihu Shugan San combined with ear point seed implantation.Both groups were treated continuously for 4 weeks.The clinical efficacy were compared between two groups.And the quality of life before and after treatment in both groups(Self-rated Sleep Quality Scale,Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale,and Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Score),serum biochemical indicators(adrenocorticotropic hormone,cortisol,adrenocorticotropic hormone releasing hormone)levels,and occurrences of adverse reactions during the treatment were compared between two groups.Results The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P＜0.05).Compared to before treatment,after 4 weeks of treatment,the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score,self-rated sleep quality scale score,and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score all decreased in both groups,and lower in the observation group than in the control group(P＜0.05).Compared to before treatment,the levels of adreno-corticotropic hormone,cortisol,and adrenocorticotropic hormone releasing hormone decreased in observation group.The observation group showed lower levels compared to the control group,but there was no statistically significant dif-ference within the control group(P＞0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion The treatment of Chaihu Shugan San combined with ear acupoint seed embedding shows significant efficacy in insomnia after chemotherapy for advanced malignant tu-mors.It can improve patients'quality of life and regulate the levels of cortisol,adrenocorticotropic hormone re-leasing hormone,and adrenocorticotropic,with good safety profile.
