Effects of Qi-Promoting and Uplifting Formula and acupoint application therapy combined with McDonald surgery on patients with cervical incompetence
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Qi-promoting and uplifting formula and acupoint application therapy combined with McDonald surgery on patients with cervical incompetence(CIC).Methods According to the treatment,a total of 60 patients with CIC who underwent McDonald surgery were categorised into the study group and the control group in Jiangxi Maternal and Child Health Hospital. The control group received the current clinical treatment, while the research group received additional Qi-promoting and uplifting formula and traditional Chinese medicine plaster therapy. The abortion rate, preterm birth rate, term birth rate, gestational weeks of delivery, premature rupture of membranes rate, infection rate, and cervical laceration rate of the both groups were observed. Results The full-term productivity(x2=6.787,P=0.009)and gestational age of delivery(t=2.979,P=0.042)in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group, while the preterm birth rate(x2=5.455,P=0.020),infection rate(x2=4.706,P=0.030),and premature rupture of membranes rate(X2=4.812,P=0.028)were significantly lower than those in the control group. The differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Although the abortion rate(x2=0.480.P=0.488)and cervical laceration rate(x2=0.268,P=0.605)in the research group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion For CIC patients,if McDonald surger is performed during the 12th to 24th week of pregnancy, and Qi-promoting and uplifting formula and acupoint application therapy are added postoperatively,it can help reduce the infection rate, the rate of premature rupture of membranes, and the preterm birth rate, while prolonging the gestational weeks and increasing the full-term birth rate. This combination of treatments aims to achieve an improved pregnancy outcome
