Treatment of acute ankle sprain patients with self-made formula for promoting blood circulation,remov-ing blood stasis,and promoting diuresis combined with ultrasound therapy
Objective To explore the effects of self-formulated blood activating,stasis resolving,and diuretic formula combined with ultrasound therapy on swelling,pain,and inflammatory factors in patients with acute ankle sprain.Methods A total of 86 patients with acute ankle sprains admitted to the Rehabilitation Medicine Department of Jiaxing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from September 2021 to June 2023 were randomly divided into a control group(n=43)and an observation group(n=43)via a random number table method.The final number of patients who completed treatment was 82(40 cases in the control group and 42 cases in the observation group).The control group received ultrasound treatment,while the observation group received treatment in combination with a self-designed formula for promoting blood circulation,removing blood stasis,and promoting diuresis on the basis of the control group.The clinical efficacy,visual analogue pain scale(VAS)and ankle joint function score of two groups of patients before and after treatment,swelling status,and serum levels of inflammatory and oxidative stress factors[Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha,TNF-α),high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP),malonaldehyde(MDA),Superoxide dismutase(SOD)].Results After treatment,the total clinical effective rate,ankle joint function score,and SOD level in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group[95.35%,74.42%],χ2=7.340,P=0.007;(142.58±5.24)points,(120.67±4.82)points,t=4.183,P=0.012;(49.69±3.15)U/mg,(47.48±3.01)U/mg,t=9.402,P<0.001];After treatment,VAS score,swelling degree,and TNF-α,hs CRP and MDA in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group[(3.20±0.53)points,(4.81±0.63)points,t=4.360,P=0.010;(4.73±3.47)mm,(6.87±3.68)mm,t=6.482,P=0.008;(48.19±6.24)mg/L,(55.69±6.48)mg/L,t=8.523,P=0.002;(6.71±1.27)mg/L,(8.96±1.47)mg/L,t=7.206,P=0.005;(2.06±0.48)μmol/L,(3.26±0.59)μmol/L,t=9.563,P<0.001].Conclusion The self-made formula for activating blood circulation,removing blood stasis and promoting diuresis combined with ultrasonic therapy not only has a definite effect on patients with acute ankle sprain,which can effectively relieve their pain,swelling and other symptoms,as well as improve the ankle function of patients and reduce inflammatory reaction,but also has clinical promotion value.
