Observation on the curative effect of traditional Chinese medicine encapsulation combined with western medicine on lumbar disc herniation(Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome)
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of traditional Chinese medicine encapsulation combined with Western medicine on lumbar disc herniation(Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome). Methods A total of 125 patients with lumbar disc herniation were included in this study, all of whom were selected from Anyang City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from September 2021 to September 2023.According to treatment methods, all patients were divided into control group(62 cases treated with conventional western medicine)and study group(63 cases treated with traditional Chinese medicine packaging combined with Western medicine).Compare the following tests between the two groups before and after the treatment:TCM syndrome scores, visual analogue pain scale(VAS)scores,Oswestry disability index(ODI)scale,Japanese orthopaedic association low back pain assessment questionnaire(JOA)scores, serological indicators, and adverse reactions. Results After treatment, the scores of TCM syndrome in both groups were lower than before the treatment, and the scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group(t=7.734,10.168,7.884,8.912,all P<0.01).After treatment,VAS score and ODI score of patients in both groups were decreased compared with before the treatment, and the above scores in the study group were decreased compared with those in the control group(t=10.368,10.398,P<0.01).JOA scores in the two groups were increased compared with the control group after the treatment, and the scores in the study group were higher compared with those in the control group(t=4.219,P<0.01).After treatment, the levels of serum prostaglandin E2(PGE2),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),transforming growth factor β1(TGF-β1)and recombinant human matrix metalloproteinase 3(MMP-3)indexes in both groups were decreased compared with those before the treatment, and the above indexes in the study group were lower than those in the control group(t=30.026,10.895,9.446,6.665,all P<0.01).After treatment,β-endorphin(β-EP)index levels in both groups were increased compared with those before the treatment, and the indices in the study group were larger than those in the control group(t=13.012,P<0.01).There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(x2=0.088,P>0.05).Conclusion In the treatment of lumbar disc herniation(Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome),traditional Chinese medicine encapsulation combined with conventional Western medicine can effectively relieve clinical symptoms and reduce pain and inflammation. This treatment method with good safety also improves lumbar function and ameliorates lumbar fibrosis.
