Efficacy and safety analysis of azithromycin in the treatment of COVID-19 in elderly patients
Objective To analyze the efficacy and safety of azvudine in the treatment of COVID-19,in elderly inpatients over 60 years old,as well as the risk factors affecting clinical outcomes, and to provide a refer-ence for clinical medication. Methods A retrospective study was conducted, selecting 108 patients who were hospitalized for COVID-19 and treated with azvudine tablets in Shanxi Provincial Integrated TCM and WM Hospi-tal.The patients were divided into an effective group and a death group based on their clinical outcomes;they were also divided into a non-traditional Chinese medicine decoction group and a traditional Chinese medicine decoction group based on whether they used traditional Chinese medicine decoctions.Pearson correlation analysis was used for continuous variables, and Spearman correlation analysis was used for categorical variables.Logistic regression analysis was employed for differential and correlation analysis to analyze indicators with significant dif-ferences.Results Although there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of age, gender, body mass index, smoking history, and underlying diseases(P>0.05),these factors still had a certain impact on the patient's condition clinically.Significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of diagnostic classification, comorbidities, disease duration before medication, and whether traditional Chinese medicine decoctions were used in combination.Ischemic cerebrovascular disease, anemia, hyponatremia, and hypoproteinemia are risk factors that affect the clinical outcomes of COVID-19 infection. Conclusion Azvudine has shown to be effective in treating mild to moderate cases of COVID-19.Additionally,the combined use of traditional Chinese medicine decoctions has a significant effect on improving the patient conditions.
