Core drugs and mechanism of action for treating chronic gastritis based on TCM inheritance auxiliary platform and network pharmacology
Objective To take the auxiliary platform of TCM inheritance as a tool to sort out the medication rules of TCM in treating chronic gastritis, and combining with network pharmacology to analyze the mechanism of TCM in the treatment of chronic gastritis. Methods A total of 1,214 clinical documents related to TCM in the treatment of chronic gastritis from January 2010 to June 2024 were retrieved. The TCM Inheritance Support System 2.5 software was applied to statistically analyze and correlate the data from these documents, facilitating the induction of potential effective drug combinations and medication characteristics of TCM in the treatment of chronic gastritis.Additionally, network pharmacology was combined to analyze the main active ingredients, signaling pathways, and targets of the core drug combinations used in chronic gastritis. Results A total of 28 valid prescriptions were retrieved, covering 116 TCM.Among them, the top 20 most frequently used herbs were primarily Qi-tonifying,Qi-regulating,and water-draining and dampness-resolving medicines. When the support degree was ≥10 and the confidence level was ≥0.6,the core combination of TCM was identified as Glycyrrhizae Radix(licorice root),Codonopsis Radix(dangshen),and Cyperi Rhizoma(xiangfu).Through network pharmacology analysis, the Glycyrrhizae Radix,Codonopsis Radix, and Cyperi Rhizoma combination was found to involve 20 active ingredients,35 core targets, and 7 signaling pathways. The core ingredients included quercetin,kaempferol,baicalein,7-methoxy-2-methylisoflavone,and others. Conclusion The treatment of chronic gastritis with TCM mainly focuses on Qi-tonifying,liver-soothing and Qi-regulating,and water-draining and dampness-resolving herbs. The core drug combination of TCM,"Glycyrrhizae Radix(licorice root),Codonopsis Radix(dangshen),and Cyperi Rhizoma(xiangfu)"may participate in the treatment process of chronic gastritis through various signaling pathways related to inflammatory response, cellular response to abiotic stimuli and apoptosis.
