Cholesterol stone is the most common type of gallstone,and its formation mechanism may be related to cholesterol metabolism.Ubiquitination is a kind of protein modification that can regulate proteins and protein substrates and mediate protein degradation,and has important physiological effects on cells.Deubiquitination enzyme is an enzyme that removes ubiquitination to affect protein function,currently,ubiquitin specific protease 20(USP20),as a deubiquitinating enzyme(DUBs),can affect the content of cholesterol in blood by deubiquitinating key rate-limiting enzyme of lipid metabolism.In this paper,the formation of cholesterol stone,the relationship between DUBs and ubiquitin specific protease(USPs)and diseases were reviewed,and the influence of USP20 on cholesterol and its possible relationship with cholesterol stone were discussed.
