Corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19)can cause changes in the quality and function of skeletal muscle,leading to the occurrence of acute sarcopenia.Acute sarcopenia will also have an adverse effect on the treatment and rehabilitation of COVID-19,and a vicious circle can be formed between them.Early detection and effective intervention of acute sarcopenia during the treatment of COVID-19 is the key to block this vicious cycle.This article reviews the etiology and mechanism,adverse effects,evaluation and diagnostic methods,prevention and treatment of COVID-19-associated acute sarcopenia.
