The Expression and Clinical Significance of miR-146a and MUC5AC in Chronic Sinusitis with Nasal Polyps
Objective:To investigate the expression and clinical significance of microRNA-146a(miR-146a)and mucin 5AC(MUC5AC)in chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps.Method:From January 2022 to January 2023,40 patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps admitted to the Department of Otolaryngology,the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University(the observation group)and 40 patients with nasal trauma,deflection of the nasal septum,and simple sinus cyst received surgery at the same time(the control group)were selected.The miR-146a and MUC5AC levels in the control group nasal mucosal tissue and the observation group nasal polyp tissue were detected.The VAS score,nasal endoscopy score,as well as the correlation between miR-146a and MUC5AC expression levels in nasal polyp tissue and VAS score,nasal endoscopy score,and percentage of inflammatory cells in both groups were analyzed.Result:The level of miR-146a in the observation group was lower than that in the control group,and the level of MUC5AC was higher than that in the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The level of miR-146a in nasal polyps was negatively correlated with VAS score and nasal endoscopic score(r=-0.637,-0.339,P<0.05),while the level of MUC5AC was positively correlated with VAS score and nasal endoscopic score(r=0.525,0.471,P<0.05).The expression level of miR-146a was negatively correlated with the percentage of eosinophils(r=-0.701,P<0.05),and the expression level of MUC5AC was positively correlated with the percentage of eosinophils(r=0.587,P<0.05).The expression levels of miR-146a and MUC5AC were not correlated with the percentage of neutrophils and lymphocytes(P>0.05).Conclusion:In the diagnosis of chronic sinusitis with nasal polyp tissue diseases,the low expression of miR-146a and the high expression of MUC5AC levels indicate an aggravation of the condition and inflammatory degree.
