Research Progress of Carotid Ultrasound and Cardiovascular Events in Chronic Kidney Disease
The global prevalence of chronic kidney disease(CKD)is increasing year by year, and concurrent cardiovascular events are the leading cause of death in patients with CKD.Therefore, the search for safer and more convenient predictors of cardiovascular events in CKD has always attracted much attention.Carotid atherosclerosis indicators such as carotid intima-media thickness(CIMT),carotid plaque and carotid plaque score have the ability to predict the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with CKD.Investigation of atherosclerosis with carotid ultrasound can reasonably assess the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with CKD at an early stage and adopt appropriate preventive measures. This article reviews the research progress of carotid ultrasound and cardiovascular events in CKD.
