Application Effect of Long's Manipulation Combined with Schroth Therapy in Patients with Idiopathic Scoliosis
Objective:To investigate the effects of Long's manipulation combined with Schroth therapy on the surface electromyography of erector spinae,Cobb angle and trunk deformity degree in patients with idiopathic scoliosis.Method:A total of 80 patients with idiopathic scoliosis admitted to Department of Rehabilitation,Xinyu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from November 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the study objects and divided into the combination group(n=42)and the control group(n=38)by coin toss method. The control group received Schroth therapy, and the combination group received Long's manipulation combined with Schroth therapy.Patients in both groups were treated for 6 months. The surface electromyography related indexes,Cobb angle, trunk deformity degree, total effective rate and quality of life were compared between the two groups.Result:After treatment, the median frequency(MF),mean power frequency(MPF)and averaged electromyography(AEMG)of the erector spinae on both sides of the concave and convex of the combination group were significantly higher than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,Cobb angle, angle of trunk inclination(ATI)and axial trunk rotation(ATR)in combination group were significantly lower than those in control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total effective rate and the scores of each dimension of short form 36(SF-36)after treatment of the combination group were significantly higher than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Long's manipulation combined with Schroth therapy for patients with idiopathic scoliosis can significantly improve the coordination and stability of erector spinae, reduce Cobb angle, help to restore spine shape, improve trunk deformity, and improve the quality of life.
