Application of Hypertonic Saline Combined with Dexamethasone Nasal Irrigation after Endoscopic Sinus Surgery for Chronic Rhinosinusitis in Children
Objective:To explore the effect of nasal irrigation with hypertonic saline and Dexamethasone after endoscopic sinus surgery for chronic rhinosinusitis(CRS).Method:A total of 78 CRS children who underwent endoscopic sinus surgery in Huangzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Huanggang City from March 2022 to March 2023 were selected and divided into the study group(39 cases)and the control group(39 cases)by random number table method. The control group received nasal irrigation with Dexamethasone, the study group received nasal irrigation with hypertonic saline combined with Dexamethasone. The clinical indicator recovery time, nasal structure recovery, pain level, quality of life and incidence of complications in both groups were compared.Result:The disappearance time of nasal congestion, nasal pain, nasal edema and nasal mucosal epithelialization in the study group were shorter than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the Lund-Kennedy nasal endoscopy scores were decreased compared to those before treatment, the mucociliary transport rate(MTR)in both groups were increased, and the Lund-Kennedy nasal endoscopy score of the study group was lower than that of the control group, the MTR of the study group was higher, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the modified objective pain score(MOPS)of both groups were decreased compared to those before treatment, that in the study group was lower than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the pediatric quality of life inventory 4.0 generic core scales(PedsQLTM4.0)in both groups were increased compared to those before treatment, that in the study group was higher than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the study group(5.13%)was lower than that in the control group(23.08%),the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The use of hypertonic saline combined with Dexamethasone for nasal irrigation after endoscopic sinus surgery in CRS children can shorten the clinical indicator recovery time, improve the nasal structure, reduce pain levels, improve quality of life, and reduce the occurrence of complications.
