Effect of Technique of Filiform Needle Acupuncture Combined with Gag Reflex Therapy on Symptoms Scores and Quality of Life in Patients with Intractable Hiccup after Stroke
Objective:To observe the effect of technique of filiform needle acupuncture combined with gag reflex therapy on symptoms scores and quality of life in patients with intractable hiccup after stroke.Method:A total of 70 patients with intractable hiccup after stroke admitted to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Gannan Medical College from August 2022 to August 2023 were selected and divided into control group and experimental group by random number table method,with 35 cases in each group.The control group received gag reflex therapy,and the experimental group received technique of filiform needle acupuncture of Zusanli,Neiguan,Zhongwan and Hegu based on the control group.All patients were treated for 4 weeks.The scores of symptoms and TCM symptoms before and after treatment were recorded in the two groups,and the quality of life of the patients was evaluated by short form 36(SF-36).Result:After treatment,the scores of symptoms and TCM symptoms(hiccup,dizziness,distention and fullness and loss of appetite)in control group and experimental group were significantly decreased,and those in experimental group were significantly lower than those in control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the scores of quality of life(physiological function,role function,physical pain,general health,energy,social function,cognitive function and mental health)in both groups were significantly increased,and those in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Technique of filiform needle acupuncture combined with gag reflex therapy can reduce the degree of hiccup in patients with intractable hiccup after stroke and improve the quality of life.
